
Dela C. Williams
Dela Williams is the facility security officer at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida where she is responsible for developing and enforcing standards to keep myriad academic, research, and other confidential information secure. For each of the last two years UCF has received a superior rating by the federal government for its security measures. Williams was promoted to the security officer position in 2009, after serving as assistant since 2006.
In addition to her efforts to develop a security website for the university community and facilitate training and events to promote security initiatives, Williams was instrumental in bringing the FISWG Summer Conference on ITAR/Export Control to UCF last year. The conference focused on ITAR Material, Export Control Technology, Dual Use Technology, Foreign National Employees, Foreign Visitors, Out-Going Foreign Visits, Foreign Tradeshows, and International Shipments. UCF continues to host the FISWG website which provides training materials and resources to the Central Florida security community and beyond. She also led efforts to host the “Cloud and Application Security” Conference focused on raising security awareness and providing guidelines for protecting computer data, etc.
Looking ahead in 2012, Williams plans to continue improving the university’s security program and maintain its “superior” rating from the Defense Security Service. She will continue working with the Local Chapter of NCMS (Central Florida Chapter #39) and plans to attend and support the 48th Annual Seminar “Sail to New Security Heights,” June 12-14 at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Resort.
Williams was born and raised on the beautiful island of St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands and holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from UCF.
